We believe this could be very old. The base includes a long narrative with Geneva mention of Reformation in Latin. As to the hallmarks, it may be from Fürth, Bavaria with the right hallmark an AIS in shield. The long zigzag line the German called Tremolierstich. It occurred when an assayer took a bit of silver with a small tool in order to test the purity of Silver. We could not find another one like it. Jehan Cauvin or Johannes Calvinus 1509 – 1564 was a French pastor in Switzerland during the Reformation.
