So much history! These 2 Derringers should be in a museum. They have almost perfect thick Mother of Pearl Handles, gilt details and are marked Remington patent 1867. They are engraved Ben C Freeman and TD Mott! Ben C. Freeman gifted these to Thomas D. Mott. Mott was one of the original Los Angeles settlers during the Mexico era estimated from 1821-1848. Freeman published a Spanish speaking newspaper in 19th century Los Angeles, an important part of communication between the population of new settlers and original residents. Mott was a respected and important figure, eventually holding office. By the 1870s he was part of the Democratic State of California assembly. hfa tiss
