Title:Anatole Guillot Selene Gold over Bronze Figural Sculpture with Foundry Mark Description: A beautiful gold-over-bronze sculpture of a bare-breasted woman reclining on a crescent moon with her flowing sash enfolding the two as she descends bare-footed down a pillar of clouds. The red marble base has doric, possibly ionic, features and matches the gild of the sculpture in an incredibly aesthetic fashion. Made by famed French sculptor and ceramist Anatole J. Guillot (1865-1911), the star pupil of Alexandre Falguiere, the first Grand Prix of Rome. Known for his delicacy, especially in facial features, this piece is exemplary of his renowned craftsmanship. Type of Piece:Figural Sculpture. Measurements:10 inches tall, 4.25 inches at widest, 3.5 inches deep. Condition:Very good overall; gold outer layer displays signs of minor wear as expected with age but is largely intact. Sculpture is securely fastened to marble base, and the marble base displays only minor wear and no chips, cracks, or other damage. The “Selene” placard is slightly loose on the base, but is secure enough to not require repair or reattachment. Hallmarks:Selene, J. Guillot, E. Jullien Paris 12 Rue Pasquier, E.
